Organic Horsegram Dal
Organic horse gram is a variety of beans generally used in many south Indian dishes and ayurvedic cuisine as well. It is a reddish oval-shaped, brown-colored, flattened, and glossy skinned lentil. It is an excellent source of protein, carbohydrates, essential amino acids, iron, phosphorus, and vitamins such as carotene, thiamine, riboflavin, niacin, and vitamin C. It might not be great in taste as compared to other beans but it sure shows many health-benefiting properties. One of the most prominent uses of horse gram is in kidney stone treatment. The water extracted after soaking or boiling Kulthi helps in dissolving kidney stones and can stop them from developing again. Little warning though - it contains a specific type of carbohydrate called raffinose oligosaccharides, which may cause gas and bloating, especially when eaten in large amounts. Guess who's sleeping alone tonight.
