Diet becomes very important at the time of any illness. With cancer, the diet is tougher because the treatment continuously weakens your body and kills the appetite. It kills the very desire to eat for the most part.
Understanding metabolism
Most patients going through radiation therapy will experience diarrhea, constipation, loss of taste, nausea, etc - making the process of eating very difficult.
Why does the diet become important?
There are significant side effects, energy loss during cancer treatment. So it's important to maintain energy levels and improve immunity with the right kind of nutrition
What should you include in your diet?
- Plant based proteins - Skip all processed stuff and go for the beans & legumes. Eat lots of veggies - particularly the rainbow
- Healthy Fats - It's important to get in the omegas. So add nuts & seeds to your diet.
- Gut friendly food - Since the digestive system gets compromised, eat pre-biotice & pro-biotics. So add soluble starches, millets, fermented food.
- Micronutrients - Since the system gets shaken a fair bit, we need to add micro nutrients for optimal functioning. So add in the vitamins & minerals for improving the immune system
And a whole lot of love
